NOTICE:
We regret to announce that the 2020 Gem and Mineral Show
is cancelled due to restrictions on gatherings because of CoVID-19 and the subsequent difficulties in insuring the safety of all attendants.  We hope to return next year for the 2021 Gem and Mineral Show.

Gem Show Overview

The Four Corners Gem & Mineral Gem Show has been an ongoing event for nearly 70 years.  The Gem Show is typically the first Friday thru Sunday after the 4th of July, however in 2020 it will be July 10, 11 and 12.  Attendance at the Gem Shows is typically 4 to 5 thousand people.  The Gem Show supports and promotes membership in the Club, and helps raise funds for an annual Fort Lewis College Geology Student Scholarship and other outreach to the community.

The Gem Show is very popular with Dealers and is normally booked for years in advance. There is a waiting list to get a Dealer's space at the Gem Show and most openings occur when a Dealer unexpectedly cancels at the last minute.

Public admission to the show is $3 for adults, which will admit visitors to all three show days. Children under 14 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.

Dealers interested in getting into this competitive show should use the link at the bottom of this page to get on the waiting list for 2020 spaces.

Gem Show Dealer Guidelines

The 2020 Show be open to the public on

Friday, July 10 from 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday, July 11 from 10 am to 6 pm
Sunday, July 12 from 10 am to 4 pm.

Setup is
Thursday, July 9 from noon to 7:30 pm and between 8 am and 10 am on Friday July 10.

Dealers must sell items associated with, or related to, gems, minerals, jewelry, and/or lapidary pursuits.  A Dealer will be required to obtain written approval from the Show Chairperson before display or sale of merchandise not directly related to gems, minerals, jewelry or the lapidary arts.

Dealers are required to collect 8.4% sales taxes on any merchandise sold during the Gem Show.  Arrangement for payment of collected sales taxes must made with the Show Chairperson at the time of Gem Show contract execution.

Please note: effective January 1, 2021, all vendors operating within the City of Durango are required to possess a Durango City Sales Tax License. This new policy will not apply to the 2020 show. The first time cost of a City Sales Tax license is $55. Thereafter, the renewal cost will be $30 a year.

Dealers who plan to purchase goods for resale should bring multiple copies of their current, valid sales tax license to submit to the seller at the time of purchase. The copy may be a reduced sized form so long as the State name, sales tax license number, and expiration date are all legible. A current, valid license from any U.S. state is allowed for tax exempt dealer-to-dealer transactions by Colorado State Law. Sellers who conduct wholesale transactions are responsible for obtaining proper documentation from Dealer buyers. Transactions without proper documentation will be subject to sales tax.

NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR FIREARMS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES AND NO ANIMALS WILL BE ALLOWED WITHIN THE EXHIBIT HALL OR COUNTY OFFICE BUILDINGS.

At the Dealers own expense, the Dealer may insure against damage, loss or any other injury arising from claims by the public or the injury to persons or property.  The Dealer agrees to hold the Club, the Club’s officers and members, and the Fairgrounds blameless and harmless from all liabilities arising out of or concerning the Dealers participation in the Gem Show.

The Club solicits the donation of items to be used at the Club's silent auction and door prize tables. Donations to the club, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation are tax deductible.

Gem Show Spaces

There are three types of Dealer spaces at the Gem Show: inside the Exhibit Hall, on the outdoor Patio, and in the meeting rooms of the County Office building.

Table cost for the Exhibit Hall is $140 per 8-foot front table. These tables are provided and are approximately 30" wide. Back tables for storage or additional retail space are free. Back tables may be arranged to serve as retail space at the Dealer's discretion. Indoor booths require table skirts and have limits on electricity and lighting.

Frontage on the outdoor patio is $140 for 16 linear feet, with a $35 charge for each 4-foot incremental increase. These spaces are approximately 15 feet deep. A 20 x 15-foot booth space, for example, would cost $175.  There are no awnings at all in the patio. All patio dealers are required to supply their own awnings.

Member tables are available to Club members only. These tables are provided and measure 6 feet long by 18 inches wide; therefore, displays must be scaled accordingly. There is no storage in this area except beneath the table. Member tables cost $79 each and are required to be skirted.
