Location & Hours
Open Shop Hours:
Daily shop fees are $5. The shop is fully equipped for your lapidary and metal smith needs, with slabbing saws, trim saws, grinders, polishing wheels, as well as a fully equipped and supplied jewelry production area where you can saw, drill, bend, shape and solder metals.
Members and Visitors are welcome to visit the Club during Open Shop Hours.
Shop Orientation is available on the third Saturdays of the month starting at 10 am. This orientation will help you learn what equipment is available, where tools can be found and a general overview of safe and proper operation. However if you are new to the equipment, be sure to ask the Shop Steward on hand for some additional tips.
Shop Stewards are member volunteers who oversee the operation of each Open Shop session. They make sure equipment is operated properly and safely, greet visitors, collect fees, and provide information to participants. Shop Stewards are trained to monitor safe operation of all shop equipment. They have different and varying levels of expertise, and are not expected to be proficient at operating every tool. It is at the discretion of the Shop Steward whether or not a piece of equipment can be used. If the Steward is not comfortable with a participant's level of experience or training, the Steward has the authority to prohibit use of certain equipment and tools.
Business Meetings:
Members are also encouraged to attend, discuss club business, and vote at the monthly business meeting, first Monday of month at 6:30 pm. These meetings are conducted to discuss the annual gem and mineral show, upkeep and purchases of new equipment, the future of the club, and clubhouse, finances, election of the board and officers, and arranging for field trips, classes and other events.
